Sunday, May 1, 2011 7:31 AM YESTERDAY WAS DEFINITELY THE LAST DAY OF THE SEASON SORRY BUT WE ARE NOW CLOSED FOR THE SEASON THERE ARE STILL LOTS OF NUTS ON THE GROUND BUT SOME HAVE BEEN THERE FOR A WHILE AND TOO MANY ARE NOW GOING OFF SO WE CAN'T GUARANTEE HOW MANY WILL BE GOOD   A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE WHO CAME AND PICKED CHESTNUTS THIS YEAR. WE HOPE YOU ENJOYED THEM AND ENJOYED COMING HERE TO PICK THEM If so, please tell your friends. NOW only $1.00 per Kg (inc GST)

REDUCED from $2 per kg

This is because some of the nuts have been on the ground a while and you may pick a few which are "going off".

I picked up 30 at random at the weekend and cut them open - 3 were going off

That's 10% - so we've reduced the price by 50% so that you are not disadvantaged

 

Sorry about the price rise this year. We kept the price the same for 5 years but rising cost (inc GST)

have forced us to increase it to remain cost effective.

We still think a visit to Chestnut Ridge to pick chestnut is great value for money.

No charge for use of facilities for a family picnic etc

Why not bring the family for a picnic in the orchard, or on the lawn, and get them all picking afterwards

Please bring:

A rubbish bag to take your empty cans, lunch wrappers etc away with you

Cash, as we don't have an EFTPOS terminal

A stop at the public toilets, in the nearby Te Kauwhata Village, before arriving, is a good idea

as we have only our own limited toilet facilities in our house, not in the orchard

Commercial Sales

We have probably got 6 - 7 Tonnes or more available next season

Buy the whole crop in 2012 season. Contact owner to negotiate price.
